2011 saw the "rebirth" of the Kingston to Negril Ride Challenge hosted by Jamaica by Bike (JBB). After a tumultuous 2010 which led to the cancelling of the event for that year, we teamed up with ATL Automotive, as Presenting Sponsor, The Wisynco Group, The Gleaner, and Restaurants of Jamaica, as Associate Sponsors, to present what has been reported to be the best staging in 2011. Two groups (A & B) started the 158 mile journey in a steady shower of rain, an unexpected challenge, which only served to harden the resolve of the riders, while ultimately reducing the average temperature experienced along the route. Approximately 100 cyclists registered for the ride, 80 cyclists completed the challenge.
The ride proved successful in achieving the defined objectives. J$450,000.00 was donated to the Sir John Golding Foundation and J$350,000.00 donated to the UWI Intensive Care Unit. We wish to express our sincere and heartfelt gratitude for those that sponsored, supported and participated in the successful staging of this ride and importantly, those that provided us with their invaluable feedback, criticism and critique, these will critically serve to enhance the product for the 2012 ride.
2012 promises to be an even bigger and better event. We look forward to your participation and support in 2012… see you all on October 13th, 2012 when the cycle continues…
